New partnership with leading maritime engine manufacturer Yamaha outboard motor service for Kiel Week

Kiel Week has a new, strong partner on board. Its product range extends from 2.5 to 425 hp and means outboards from leading engine manufacturer Yamaha. During the world’s largest sailing regatta from 17 to 25 June 2023, YAMAHA MOTOR EUROPE N.V., branch Germany based in Neuss (near Düsseldorf) will set up a service point for the first time at the Kiel-Schilksee Olympic Sailing Center. Maintenance and small immediate repairs for the drives of the coach and support boats will be offered at three technical stations at the same time.

"The aspirations and image of Kiel Week are an excellent fit with our company’s philosophy," says Katja Kimmel, Brand Specialist RVPP/Marine/MX/P&A at Yamaha Motor Europe.

At Kiel Week 2022, she and a team from Neuss saw for themselves the needs and presentation opportunities during the major event. The presentation, which will also be used to promote the latest, target group-oriented outboards, is planned near the large slipway at the north harbour of Schilksee.

On the nine days of the Kiel Week, around 250 official support boats will be in action, from the coaches to the mark layers of the Race Committee and Jury to the rescue services and VIP shuttles. Most of the inflatable boats are manned by volunteers. Many of them use Yamaha outboards.

"Fast first aid, if an engine starts badly or does not run smoothly, gives us and the many accompanying coaches and security services logistical support and strengthens the entire service concept of Kiel Week," says Sven Christensen, Managing Director of the event and marketing agency Point of Sailing, about the new partnership.
