As a leading nation in waste disposal and recycling, Germany already plays a pioneering role. Nevertheless, major events are often associated with environmental pollution - caused by careless waste disposal, increased energy and water consumption, and high emissions of air pollutants due to the arrival and departure of visitors.
Kiel Week is in accordance with World Sailing's Sustainability Agenda. As a leading nation in recycling technology and waste management, Germany already serves as a role model. Kiel Week strives for more.
Together with our partners, sponsors, participants and visitors, we want to make the Kiel Week sailing regattas more environmentally friendly. As organizers we see it as our responsibility to address sustainability and to actively counteract the pollution of the world's oceans and to be an example for others.
